Tango Singers

During tango’s Golden Age (1930s–1950s), singers rose from occasional guests to essential members of the orchestra. Their voices brought the lyrics and emotions of tango to the forefront, becoming closely tied to each ensemble’s identity. By the late 1950s, many vocalists had grown so popular that they surpassed the orchestras themselves, launching solo careers and even forming their own groups.
